Sciona – Optimal Health Through Genetics

Sciona Inc. has raised $6.5 million in fourth-round funding. Return backers include DSM Venturing, Prelude Trust, Burrill and Co., BioVentures Inc., BASF Venture Capital, and Semola Ltd.

Sciona is a privately held, international company that provides personalized health and nutrition recommendations based on an individual’s diet, lifestyle and unique genetic profile. The Company began on June 8, 2000, the same day as the announcement by Prime Minister Blair and President Clinton of the completion of the first draft of the Human Genome Project.

Sciona has built a business around the application of evidence-based genetic information for the development of personalized products that help individuals optimize their health. In the process, Sciona has established itself as an internationally recognized pioneer and leader in the emerging scientific field of nutrigenetics. Sciona is headquartered in Boulder, Colorado with offices in Europe, and has research facilities on the Yale University campus. Sciona currently employs 15 people worldwide.
