Setting a pre-money valuation is always an interesting step in the funding process. I’ve seen potential deals quickly unwind as a result of an entrepreneur standing firm on an irrationally perceived valuation, or an unsophisticated angel investor(s) setting a seed round price that is misaligned with the venture community. It is always a terrible shame when this occurs.
